Career Highlights:
'Hi-Ho' Silver turned pro in March 1939 and won a series of fights in the Brooklyn area. His first bout at Madison Square Garden occured in December of that year - a four-round draw against Frankie Deris. Fighting a majority of his fights in the Coney Island Velodrome, Silver returned to the Garden on a number of occasions prior to joining the U.S. Army during World War II in the spring of 1942. After being honorably discharged in February 1944, Silver defeated Jeff Holloway in a six-round decision in his professional bout after the discharge. By the end of the year, Silver had started fighting in Florida, where he remained for the rest of his career, which ended in the late 1940s.
