Career Highlights:
Edelman, a middleweight fighter from Philadelphia, made his professional debut in April 1983 and knocked out Will Rankin in the second round of their bout. He fought primarily in the Philadelphia and Atlantic City areas early in his career and was undefeated when he captured the vacant New Jersey light welterweight title in September 1984 by winning a 12-round decision over Cesar Guzman. He held the title for eight months before losing the first fight of his career, a sixth-round technical knockout against Joey Ferrell in May 1985. Edelman then fought once more, in October 1985, but was again knocked out by Southern Boxing Association welterweight champion Grant Walters in the sixth-round.
