Bernard Kapitansky

Kapitansky played guard at Long Island University (LIU), then played in the NFL in 1942.

Career Highlights:
A tackle at New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, Kapitansky then attended LIU and played both football and rugby. In 1940, he was a member of LIU's rugby team when they captured the New York metropolitan city championship and had victories over Yale and Princeton (their only loss was to Harvard). As a senior in 1942, Kapitansky captained the rugby team.
After his college career at LIU ended, Kapitansky played in seven games in the NFL for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1942. The Dodgers, woefully undermanned due to World War II, finished the season 3-8 and lost their final six games of the year.
