David Eli Kopans

Kopans was an outstanding tackle for Harvard in the 1930s. After his playing days ended, David became a doctor.

The Boston Latin School annually awards the David Eli Kopans scholarship to, "one or more graduating seniors who despite difficult obstacles have developed athletic prowess and demonstrated qualities of dedication and leadership giving promise of service to their community and future success in life." The Boston Latin School is the the oldest public school in America with a continuous existence (founded April 23, 1635).

Career Highlights:
In 1931, Kopans was named AP All-East honorable mention as the Crimson won their first seven games of the season before losing to Yale 3-0 in the final game of the year. In 1933, Harvard had a record of 5-2-1 and Kopans was named AP All-America honorable mention, and AP All-East third team. Kopans is a member of the Harvard Athletic Hall of Fame.
