Samuel Goldman

Career Highlights:
In 1944, Goldman joined the Boston Yanks who finished the season with a record of 2-8-0, fourth in the NFL East; one of his teammates was Dave Smukler. In 1946, Goldman had the best statistical season of his career while with the Yanks. He carried the ball twice for -3 yards, but caught 15 passes (second most on the team) for 154 yards. He also returned 2 kicks for 41 yards as the Yanks finished 2-8-1, fifth place in the NFL East.

After one more season with the Yanks, Goldman joined All-Pro defensive back Biggie Goldberg on the Chicago Cardinals. In 1948, Goldman played in 11 games for the 11-1-0 Cardinals, who were NFL Eastern Conference Champions. In the NFL Championship game, the Cardinals faced the Philadelphia Eagles in a snowstorm. It was so bad that the chains could not be used for measurements and the sidelines were marked by ropes tied to stakes. Both defenses dominated as the Eagles managed the only score of the game and won the contest, 7-0.

In 1949, Goldman played for the Detroit Lions, who finished with a record of 4-8. He retired following the season, having played in 46 career NFL games.

Goldman played as an end at Howard University. He then played as an offensive end and defensive end in the NFL with the Boston Yanks in 1944 and from 1946-1947, with the Chicago Cardinals in 1948, and for the Detroit Lions in 1949.
