Slosburg played two seasons in the NFL in the late 1940s.

Career Highlights:
Slosburg entered Temple in 1945 as a third-string freshman halfback, but the speedy player quickly moved up the depth chart. That year, he finished as the team's leading rusher and scorer and the Owls finished the season with a record of 7-1-0. In recognition of his achievements, Slosburg was selected to play in the 1945 Blue-Grey Game.

In 1946, Sonny had another excellent year, but the Owls struggled to a record of 2-4-2. Slosburg was named AP All-America honorable mention. The following season, Temple had a record of 3-6-0, but Sonny had a terrific season and finished as the tenth leading rusher in the nation. That year, he was named AP All-East honorable mention and AP All-America honorable mention.

In 1948, Slosburg was still eligible to play for the Owls, but decided to graduate early with a business degree. That year, he was selected by the Boston Yanks in the fourth round (39th overall) of the NFL Draft. In 1948, Sonny played as a back for the Yanks, who struggled to a record of 3-9-0.

The following year, the franchise moved to to New York and changed its name to the Bulldogs. Slosburg returned to the team, playing both offense and defense, as the Bulldogs had a record of 1-10-1. Slosburg retired after the season, having played in 15 career NFL games. In 1979, he was inducted into the Temple University Hall of Fame. He is also a member of Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
