Saul Charles Weislow

Weislow, a center at the University of Chicago for three seasons in the mid-1920s, was team captain in 1928. Prior to the 1928 season, famed sports writer Walter Eckersall wrote a feature on Weislow for the Chicago Tribune and stated, "Weislow has been one of the most dependable...the last two years. He is aggressive and fairly fast...He is not the type of player whose work will be handicapped by the burdens of the captaincy. On the contrary, he will set an example for his teammates."

Career Highlights:
A four-year letterwinner at Englewood High School in Chicago, Weislow played three seasons at center for the University of Chicago. In 1926, the Maroons won their first two games of the year, but then lost their final six, scoring only fourteen points during the losing streak. The following year, the team improved enough to finish the season with a record of 4-4-0. In 1928, Saul was named captain and Chicago had a record of 2-7-0; he missed six weeks during the season after injuring his knee in the season opener against South Carolina.
