Grabfelder, Earle

Grabfelder played football at the University of Kentucky in the mid-1910s.

Career Highlights:
Grabfelder was an outstanding high school athlete at Louisville's Male High in both track and football. He continued to participate in both sports at Kentucky and was a two-time letterwinner in football with the Wildcats in the mid-1910s. In 1915, the team had a record of 6-1-1. The following year, they finished 4-1-2 and Grabfelder was named to the All-Kentucky (state) football team.

Earle left college in 1917 and enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War I. Upon his return to the United States, he played professional football on the weekends and became an insurance agent. When World War II began, he re-enlisted (at the age of 47) and was commissioned as a captain. After the war, he became a commander of the Jewish War Veterans Post 179 and a charter member of the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Lousville Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
