Strauss, Alfred "Doc"

Alfred A. Strauss

Strauss played football and baseball at Washington. He later became instrumental in recruiting players for his alma mater and a also became a cancer specialist. The Alfred A. Strauss surgical lecture has been held annually at the UW School of Medicine since 1950.

Career Highlights:
Strauss made the varsity football team at the University of Washington in 1900 as a freshman guard. He then made the switch to halfback and helped lead Washington to undefeated seasons in 1902 and 1903; he was named All-Conference both seasons. In 1981, Strauss was inducted into the University of Washington Athletics Hall of Fame.
