Stelmach, Nahum

Stelmach's contribution his sport will endure, as he forced the world to pay attention to Israeli soccer. Known as the "golden head" for his ability to score with his head, Nahum was an outstanding player in the air for the National team and club team, Hapoel Petach Tikvah.

Career Highlights:
Named Israel's Sportsman of the Year in 1957 and 1959, Stelmach was a member of Hapoel Petach Tikvah, leading them to five consecutive Israel League titles between 1959-1963. He also played for the Israeli National team 53 times and scored 22 goals. Nahum scored his first international goal on Israeli soil in 1956 in a match against the Soviet Union. It was Stelmach's second game for Israel. Nahum captained the Israeli national team from 1958-1968, and was named by Yediot Aharonot in 1998 as Israel's third greatest soccer player.
