Career Highlights:
One of the top American women tennis players in the early 1950s, Kanter won the U.S. girls tennis championship in 1951 as an 18-year-old sophomore at UCLA (University of California-Los Angeles). The following year, she was the runner-up at the Foothills Cup and won the U.S. clay court championship. Ranked No. 6 in the United States in 1952 and No. 9 in 1953, Kanter competed in the Maccabiah Games in 1953. At the Games, Anita lost the women's singles title to Angela Buxton and won the mixed doubles title with Grant Golden and the women's double title.
