Nimni, Meir

A member of the Israeli National team in the 1970s, Nimni made 14 international appearances (caps) during his career (he did not score a goal in international competition). He also played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israel League. His nephew Avi Nimni is one of Maccabi Tel Aviv's greatest players of all time.

Career Highlights:
Between 1974-1977, Nimni was a midfielder and defender for Israel's National soccer team. In 1976, he participated in the Montreal Summer Olympics, where Israel reached the quarterfinals. Nimni started all three preliminary games, as Israel drew with Guatemala, 0-0 (he played in the midfield), Mexico, 2-2 (midfield), and France, 1-1 (defense)..Israel's three points put them second in their group behind France, to advance to the quarterfinals. Nimni then started on defense in the quarterfinal match against powerhouse Brazil, who defeated Israel, 4-1.
