Career Highlights:
Farber began his career as a bantamweight, but moved up to featherweight,.fighting some of the best boxers in those divisions during his career in the 1930s. In May 1932, Lew faced Baby Arizmendi (the Mexican bantamweight champ and future New York Commission featherweight champ) and lost a 10-round decision. The following year, Farber fought Mike Belloise (a future world featherweight champ) twice, with both bouts ending in six-round draws. In May 1936, Lew faced world bantamweight champ Baltasar Sangchili in a non-title bout and lost a 10-round decision (Sangchili lost the title in his next fight, one month later). That year, Farber also fought fellow Jewish featherweight contenders Bernie "Schoolboy" Friedkin and Al Reid.
