A member of France's four-with-coxswain team (a coxswain steers and directs) at the 1960 Rome Olympics, Klein was a teammate of Guy Nosbaum. In the preliminary round, the French team placed third in their heat with a time of 6:46.75. In the repechage (a consolation match to advance to the semifinals), France won its heat in a time of 6:47.31. In the semifinals, the French team finished second to advance to the final, where they won the silver medal with a time of 6:41.62 (two seconds behind the Soviet Union).
