A member of Romania's Olympic boxing team, Zilberman competed in the welterweight division at the 1976 Montreal Games. After his first opponent (Amon Kotey of Ghana) forfeited , Zilberman defeated Colin Jones of Great Britaina in a 5-0 decision, and beat Carols Santos of Puerto Rico (decision) to reach the semifinals. In his semifinal bout, Zilberman lost a decision to Jochen Bachfeld of East Germany, and was awarded the bronze medal.

Career Highlights:
A welterweight, Zilberman won the silver medal at the European (amateur) championships in 1969 and 1975.
