O'Loughlin was a member of the United States fencing team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. In the individual epee competition, he was eliminated in the first round and officially finished in 55th place.

Career Highlights:
O'Loughlin (his mother is Jewish) was a four-time All-America at the University of Pennsylvania from 1986-1989 and was the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Champion in the epee in 1986 as a freshman. That year, he was the recepient of the Peter K. Riley Award from Penn as the outstanding freshman athlete (Cliff Bayer, another Jewish fencer, won the award in 1997).

A member of the bronze medal-winning epee team at the 1991 Pan American Games, O'Laughlin is currently a member of the New York Athletic Club and has participated in three World Championships for the United States. In 1999, he finished 32nd in the individual epee competition; and in 2000, he was the U.S. National champion in the individual epee.
