Career Highlights:
In July 1947, Swartz was signed by the St. Louis Browns straight out of high school. Only 18, Bud struggled in his 5.1 innings, yielding 9 hits and 7 walks, with an ERA of 6.75. He did strike out a batter. Although he was scheduled to remain with the Browns for the rest of the season, he was sent to the minors in August. Recalled by the Browns in September, Bud never appeared in another major league game.
