Max G. Rubinstein

A member of the CCNY Athletic Hall of Fame, Rubinstein played basketball at the City College of New York in the 1920s. In 1930, Rubinstein was named to the All-time All-CCNY team by the legendary City College coach, Nat Holman.

Career Highlights:
A three-year starter, Rubinstein began his varsity career at City College in 1926 as a sophomore center. That year, under Hall of Fame coach Nat Holman, the Beavers had a record of 9-6. The following year, City College improved to 9-3.

In 1928, Rubinstein was the captain of the CCNY team and led the Beavers to a record of 11-4. After winning their first game of the year, City College lost their next three to St. John's (26-21), Dartmouth (48-32), and Lehigh (27-26). Led by Rubinstein, though, they salvaged the season by winning 10 of their next 11 games (including 9 in a row). In the season finale, Rubinstein finished a fine college career by scoring a game-high 8 points and leading City College to a 29-26 victory over rival, NYU (New York University).
