Career Highlights:
A forward, Liss entered CCNY in 1926 as a freshman and was a starter on the freshman team. The following year, as a sophomore, he joined the City College varsity squad under head coach Nat Holman as the Beavers finished with a record of 9-3.

In 1928, Liss stepped into the starting line-up alongside senior captain Hick Rubinstein and sophomore guard Lou Spindell. Although the Beavers lost three of their first four games, they rebounded to finish the season with a record of 11-4. In the season finale, Liss scored three points as City defeated rival, NYU (New York University).

In 1929, Liss was the captain of the CCNY basketball team that won six of their first seven games. Although they stumbled in the middle of the season (three losses in five games), they still managed to finish 9-5. In his last college game, Liss scored a team-high six points, but the Beavers lost to NYU, 40-24.
