Bartfield was a featherweight in the 1940s. Based on incomplete records compiled by www.boxrec.com, he won 28 fights (9 KOs), and lost four as a professional. Bartfield became a wrestling referee after his boxing career ended.

Career Highlights:
Born in Brooklyn, Bartfield was a good featherweight in the 1940s. In 1940, beginning in February with a second-round TKO over Frankie Van, he won all 20 of his professional fights. Among his victories were knockouts of Mike Prevetti (first-round), Bobbie Williams (third-round), Vince Tritto (second-round), Tony Vellon (second-round), George Zeitz (second-round), Artie Di Pietro (third-round), and Lloyd Lasky (second-round).

Although Bartfield lost in February 1941, he continued his success throughout the decade. In 1945, he fought lightweight and junior welterweight contender Willie Joyce in New York. The fight went the distance -- six rounds -- but Bartfield lost the decision. Two years later, he fought another contender, future lightweight champion, Paddy DeMarco. Bartfield again lasted the distance, but lost an eight-round decision.
