Career Highlights:
Dechter began his professional boxing career in 1926 with two bouts against future world flyweight champion, Midget Wolgast. Dechter lost both fights -- the first in Philadelphia, the second in Atlantic City -- in six-round decisions. He fought sparingly over the next few years, never participating in more than nine bouts in a single year during his career. In 1929, Dechter fought a series of bouts with Eddie Cool, considered by some boxing experts to be one of the best technical fighters ever to come out of Philadelphia.

The first fight, which took place in Philadelphia, ended in a six-round draw on August 25. Two weeks later, they fought in Atlantic City, which Cool emerging victorious in an eight-round decision. Cool also won the next fight on October 2 in Atlantic City on an eight-round decision. Dechter, however, won the fourth and final bout with an eight-round decision. Dechter's career lasted until 1937 and he fought over 60 professional fights, although his record is incomplete. During his career, he fought Jewish boxer Joey Zodda in March 1934 and won a six-round decision.
