Walter C. Levine

Levine played tackle at Washington & Jefferson in the late 1920s, and was team captain in 1930.

Career Highlights:
During the years that Levine played tackle at Washington & Jefferson, the school had a three-year combined record of 13-9-5. In 1929, Levine was named All-Western Pennsylvania. In 1930, he was AP All-East honorable mention and was named team captain of the football team.

After graduating, Levine played tackle for two professional Pennsylvania teams, the Reading Keys and Shenandoah Presidents in the early and mid-1930s. While he was still playing professionally, Levine also began a career in coaching and officiating.

A long-time scholastic and collegiate referee in football and basketball, Levine was the head coach of football and basketball at Mount Carmel High School (where he compiled a record of 17-13-2 between 1931-1933), head coach at Lock Haven High School, and a line coach at Lock Haven (Pennsylvania) State Teachers College. Levine was elected to the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1974.
