David Andrew Koral

Koral is the backup quarterback at UCLA and is well known for his ability to make big plays at crucial junctures as well as for his strong arm. He was the starting quarterback for Santa Monica College before transferring to UCLA. He will continue to vie for the starter position as UCLA Bruin starting quarterback in the 2005 season.

Career Highlights:
David played his high-school football for Palisades High in California. As the starter in his junior year he threw for 4,902 yards and 58 touchdowns, averaging over 377 yards per game. He made an impression in his senior year, getting picked No. 6 among quarterbacks in the West and earned All-America honors from PrepStar. In his 2000 senior year, Koral passed for 4,057 yards and 44 touchdowns as a senior. The highlight of his season was a national prep record 764 yards versus Grant High-School of Van Nuys, California. Koral even got his name in the record books as he Tied a national record with 10 touchdown passes in one game.

David initially signed with Vanderbilt in 2001 but was unhappy with a change in the coaching staff. He only managed one game for Santa Monica College in 2002 before suffering a broken collarbone. Following his recovery, the local boy completed 155 of 281 passes (55.2%) for 2,202 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions in nine games as a sophomore in 2003. Koral received recognition as he was rated No. 8 JC quarterback by collegefootballnews.com and a No. 63 JUCO prospect by SuperPrep.

Koral transferred to UCLA for the 2004 campaign. The new guy was mostly the backup for starter Drew Olson. He completed 7 passes in 12 attempts for 89 yards overall. UCLA were 6-6 for the season.
