After attending Los Angeles High School, Broussea played three seasons of varsity football with the USC Trojans. After finishing 5-7-0 (eighth place in conference) in 1935, the Trpjans improved to 4-2-3 (tied for third in conference) in 1936, and then had a record of 4-4-2 (seventh) in Brousseau's senior season of 1937.
