At the 1984 Olympics, Davidovitz participated in two shooting events for the Israeli team. After finishing 46th in the three-position rifle competition with 1,099 points (388 for prone, 345 for standing, and 366 for kneeling), Yair had more success in the small-bore rifle event. He began the competition as 1 of only 12 competitors to register a perfect first round (100 points). Yair remained in the medal hunt over the next four rounds by scoring 395 of 400 possible points. Tied for fourth place entering the final round (only one point behind second place), Yair failed to medal after scoring only 95 points and finishing with a total of 590, dropping him to 23rd place overall. Had he even scored a 98 in his last round, Davidovitz would have finished in the top ten.
