Career Highlights: Born in Brooklyn, Brandt spent the majority of his professional career fighting out of New York City. In 1930s, he battled Jackie Farrell, a serviceman with the 212th Anti-Aircraft Regiment and won a six-round decision. In May 1933, Brandt won a four-round decision over Al Lewis in the bout at Madison Square Garden.
In July 1933, Brandt fought future welterweight contender Izzy Jannazzo and won another six-round decision. Four months later, Murray battled another contender, Chilean lightweight champion Stanislaus Loayza, but lost an eight-round decision. In 1934, he had a rematch with Jannazzo, but lost a six-round decision.
