Born in New York City, Pincus fought Benny Tell in February 1925 and won a four-round decision. The following month, he defeated K.O. Grills in a six-round decision in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. Later that year, Pincus was knocked out in the first-round by Dodo Jackson in a bout in North Bergen, New Jersey. In 1926, he then fought Joey Eulo twice, winning the first bout in a four-round decision and drawing the second fight in six-rounds.
